The Rural Research Centres Network (R2CN) aims to serve as a knowledge mobilization platform for research centres and institutes dedicated to research and engagement in rural communities and regions. It aims to support, engage, and mobilize rural research centres working within higher education, non-profit, public, and private sector contexts across Canada and internationally to amplify their local impact and policy relevance. The network aspires to identify and build on the core competencies of the rural research centres within RPLC’s network and foster space to collectively strengthen and harness these capacities for collective benefit. R2CN seeks to bolster the capacity of the network of rural research centres – starting with centres within post-secondary educational institutions and expanding to other centres to magnify the valued services of research centres in rural regions.. Supports may include the exchange among network members of knowledge, skills, and efforts to enhance collaboration, share expertise and resources, and strategize on ways to substantially impact rural policy and practice.

R2CN CONGRATULATES TRAVEL AWARD RECIPIENTS
The Rural Research Centres Network recently concluded its first travel award and is pleased to support an excellent group of award recipients. During the summer 2018 round of applications for the Rural Research Centres Travel Award, 13 applicants applied for support to attend conferences and continue research collaborations on a variety of rural-focused topics. These awardees will benefit from the ability to present their research findings to a broad network of peers, form and strengthen Canadian and international research partnerships, and enhance networking and shared capacity building opportunities among members of rural research centres across RPLC’s network.
The successful researchers who are being supported by this year’s Rural Research Centres Travel Award include:
