RPLC Welcomes Adams Abdul Salam as New Rural Policy Assistant
Adams Abdul Salam is our new Rural Policy Assistant at RPLC. Adams currently resides in Brandon, Manitoba but was born in New Edubiase, Ghana. He is an active politician in Ghana, who is passionate about improving the livelihood of people living in rural communities through effective policy making.
He holds a master’s degree in Rural Development from Brandon University, Canada and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. Adams has worked as a Football Administrator and as a Community Planning Officer for the Dream Project INC (a Non-Governmental Organization in Ghana).
Adams is also a Research Associate at the Remote and Mental Health Lab at Brandon University. His research interests are in Rural Urban Migration and Decentralization. Adams likes to play soccer in his free time. Adams’ new role at RPLC will hone his knowledge and skills in rural policy.
RPLC Welcomes Georgette Nyankson as New Rural Engagement Assistant
Georgette Nyankson is newly hired as the Rural Engagement Assistant for RPLC. She was born and grew up in Ghana (West Africa). She has worked as a Country Program Coordinator for Volunteer BaseCamp (Canadian Non-Governmental Organisation) for three years where she coordinated international volunteers working on projects with small community groups, government institutions and non-governmental institution in rural and deprived communities in Ghana. She worked simultaneously as a Project Manager in West Africa for USA Airforce with Language Acquisition Abroad Program.
Georgette has worked as a Senior Research Assistant at the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development and participated in multi-disciplinary research on rural development, local governance and natural resource management through data collection, data analysis, writing of technical report, consultancy services, professional training workshops, monitoring and evaluation of projects in rural communities in Ghana.
She holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Developing Planning. Georgette is currently enrolled in Masters in Rural Development program at Brandon University. She is currently a volunteer (ERT Responder) at Canadian Red Cross in Westman.
Georgette’s new role in RPLC will help facilitate capacity building initiatives for partners and participants to inform rural research and policy
